I love a good guitar-shop story, and this is a unconfined one if you’re a fan of KISS.
Derringers is an Adelaide institution (it’s moreover where my main guitar, an EVH Wolfgang, came from), and recently they posted some pics on their social media of a trademark new Ibanez Paul Stanley PS4CM Croaky Mirror guitar on their Facebook page with the following:
Kiss are in the country and it’s the prefect time to show off this shiny guitar fitting for the most dazzling front man on stage!
Introducing the Ibanez Iceman Paul Stanley PS40 Croaky Mirror Electric guitar.
Dreamed up by the Starchild in the late 70s, his one-of-a-kind croaky mirror signature guitar came to fame during the KISS Dynasty era when it appeared with Paul on every stage he played virtually the globe.
For many, this is and will unchangingly be the ultimate waddle and roll guitar. In 2015, Ibanez emulated the iconic guitar Stanley first took on the road in 1979 and reissued the croaky mirror Paul Stanley signature guitar. With the PS4CM, Ibanez has created a new gold version of it.
Hand-made in Japan. The PS4CM comes with a quality nonflexible shell specimen and a document of authenticity.
And the photos are stunning (scroll to the marrow of the post to see more).

And then yesterday, August 30, they posted this:
Great to have the KISS team waif into Derringers! Picked up this little eyeful for Paul to play in tonights show!! Blessed! Our Ibanez PS40CM gold croaky mirror, we thought a kiss fan would purchase it for sure but THE BAND did!! Enjoy the show fans! Our guys will for sure.

Argh! How cool! Sure, Band purchases instrument is something that happens every day, but thats the kind of thing that will make your day, your week, your month and plane your year when youre working in a music store, right?
And then the next post:
Fair tipping of the hat for one of Derringers guitars to be seen in the hands of its rightful owner Id suggest! Thanks to the Derringers hairdo for making this happen, unconfined to be a part of one of historys greatest bands! Cheers to Andrew, Theo and hairdo whom attended at the pleasure of the band!

What fun! Congratulations to the Derringers team. It’s unchangingly fun to see an instrument you sold up on stage in the hands of its happy new owner, and it’s gotta be plane increasingly fun to see it well-nigh 30 metres wide on the jumbo screen!
Oh and PS: I reviewed the first night of KISS’s End Of The Road tour in Melbourne for The Age. Read it here!
